The latest entrant in the PSU series of power supplies is the Antec EarthWatts Platinum that is aimed at energy conscious users. The lineup is inclusive of 450W, 550W and 650W models as part of the desktop range.

The 80 Plus Platinum certified power supplies seek to invoke the interest of environmental-savvy organizations and consumers. This offering is expected to deliver reliability and continuous power while being nearly 93% energy efficacy when pitted against earlier models.

The power supplies could also help users save about 25% of their electric bill, as revealed by Antec. Moreover, the noise levels delivered by the system are low even at full load owing to the 120mm two ball-bearing fans regulated by the company’s Thermal Manager and CircitShield.

“The 80 Plus Platinum certified power supplies have so far only been available in higher wattage classes and not for the everyday gamer. Our EarthWatts Platinum power supplies enable more mainstream users and system builders to truly make a difference in their total energy consumption, benefiting both monthly electric bills as well as the environment,” commented Mafalda Cogliani, Global Marketing Director at Antec.

In order to facilitate optimum CPU and GPU compatibility, the system equips fully secured High Current +12V rails with high load capacities. Furthermore, DC stability and control is maximized as the device is developed with 100 percent capacitors from Japan. The CircuitShield feature facilitates current, power, under voltage, voltage and short circuit protection. This patented offering enables automated closing down of the PSU to inhibit further system damage.

The Antec EarthWatts Platinum series including the EA-450 Platinum, EA-550 Platinum, and EA-650 Platinum price details read at $109.95 (approx. Rs. 5,417), $119.95 (approx.
