While most tablets are meant for business use and entertainment on the move, the Wacom Intuos5 graphics slates work towards meeting the creative demands of photographers, designers and artists. They hold digital content, offer multi-touch gesture recognition capabilities and better projection via the Express View display.

These sleek devices encased in matte black exteriors, boast of ambidextrous designs with soft-touch finishes. The Wacom Intuos5 graphics tablet lineup comprises three models with multi-touch and pen support in small, medium and large configurations, along with another pen-only version of a medium size. Users have an option to employ the pen to execute creative ideas and gestures for commands like zoom, scroll, pan and more. These tablets identify Mac and Windows gestures when connected, in addition to the ones customized by the user.

“The multi-touch interface in the Intuos5 is Wacom’s most elegant implementation of gesture support to date. Switching from pen to touch or to gesture based navigation is a liberating experience, allowing one to reduce repetitive motion and interact more naturally with the computer. Express View modernises the user interface and is instrumental in helping improve workflow and boost productivity. It allows users to remain focused on their work and concentrate on the creative process while providing all the benefits of a faster workflow,” quoted Guido Möller, product manager professional brands of Wacom Europe.

Adding to the productivity, the manufacturer has embedded configurable ExpressKeys and a Touch Ring for instant access to frequently used applications. And in case users happen to forget the function assigned to each of the keys, the Express View display deployed with the Heads-Up Display (HUD) projects the settings on the monitor when the key is touched gently. The Intuos5 Grip Pen that accompanies these slates, can record pen pressure of up to 2048 levels and pen tilt of about 60 degrees. This pen comes embedded with two customizable buttons and a pressure-sensitive eraser. The slab’s Tip Sensor technology should also ensure better output. The separately available Wireless Accessory kit has the capability to transform these devices into wireless ones.

The Wacom Intuos5 graphics tablets’ price and availability details have been revealed. The small, medium and large multi-touch variants are priced at £199.99 (approx. Rs. 15,700), £329.99 (approx. Rs. 25,900) and £429.99 (approx. Rs. 33,750), respectively. The pen-only version can be picked up for £269.99 (approx. Rs. 21,190).
