Netgear has introduced the Netgear ProSafe 52-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch in India, claiming it to be the first in the industry with 10-Gigabit connectivity. The switch utilizes the user-friendly Web-based ProSafe Control Center which provides simple, yet comprehensive management through a streamlined interface.
The switch, primarily introduced for mid-market networks, is suitable for 10-gigabit servers to fulfill tasks such as data replication and backup, virtualization, video on demand and high-volume transaction processing. The device provides 48 gigabit ports for connecting devices to the network, along with four 10G SFP+ ports for stacking or uplink to servers.
Speaking on the launch of Industry’s First Smart Switch with 10-Gigabit connectivity, Atul Jain, Country Manager (India & SAARC), Netgear Technologies said, “As a part of our endeavor to SMART IT and not big IT, the 10G Smart Switch will provide a strong backbone to our mid-market customers for the rapidly emerging class of 10-gigabit servers , delivering maximum throughput from server to switch for demanding tasks such as data replication and backup, virtualization, video on demand and high-volume transaction processing. Furthermore we will enhance the introduction of 10G switching and storage solutions which are reliable, affordable and simple.â€
For about 288 network ports, up to six switches can be stacked with full redundancy. With the 10G connectivity, this device is expected to ensure optimum performance from servers, NAS appliances, and network up-links.
The Netgear ProSafe 52-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch (GS752TXS) can be purchased in India for a price of Rs. 1, 19, 000. It will be available with authorized distributors of the company.
