AMD deals out ATI Radeon E4690 MXM Mobile PCIe module

AMD LogoGPUs boast of highly parallel structures which make them more efficient than CPUs in many areas of computing, resulting their widespread adoption today. AMD, working in collaboration with ALT Software, has come out with their ATI Radeon E4690 MXM Mobile PCIe module for graphics intensive embedded systems.

The module has 512MB of internal GDDR3 memory, a set of display output options and adjustable system clocks as also 320 shader processors. Its energy efficiency comes courtesy of ATI PowerPlay intelligent power management technology. The E4690 lends support to DirectX 10.1 and the AMD Unified Video Decoder 2 (UVD 2).

“As the graphics requirements for embedded systems continue to increase, AMD has armed the ATI Radeon E4690 MXM with features that are important to our customers and done so within an industry-standard specification that helps simplify design, development and market delivery,” remarked Richard Jaenicke, director of Embedded Discrete Graphics at AMD.

AMD’s latest offering is touted to be able to replace a variety of hardware components and scale down on overall system size, cost and power consumption due to support by ATI Stream technology. It hosts several outputs comprising of integrated DisplayPort, dual independent display controllers, single and dual-link LVDS, single and dual-link DVI /TMDS/HDMI as well as analog outputs.

“Based on the successful ATI Radeon E4690 GPU, the ready-made ATI Radeon E4690 MXM solution provides the graphics performance, energy efficiency and reliability customers need. This, coupled with the module’s five year product life cycle, makes the ATI Radeon E4690 the easy answer for system designers looking to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace,” added Jaenicke.

The pricing details for AMD’s ATI Radeon E4690 module are foggy for now.
