Verizon to offer Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus handsets

Tech world never seems to run dry of mobile phone news on any given day. From today onwards, Verizon Wireless will offer the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus handsets with in-built 3G Mobile Hotspots as also Nationwide Talk or Nationwide Talk and Text plans across the U.S.

Both phones operate on the Palm webOS platform. The Pre Plus has a 3.1” multitouch HVGA screen, 16GB memory, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and 3MP camera with LED flash and geo tagging. The Pixi Plus possesses a 2.6” multitouch Sub-HVGA display, 8GB memory, physical QWERTY keyboard and 2MP camera with LED flash and geo tagging. They incorporate a number of audio and video formats, GPS, wireless connectivity options and much more.

3G Mobile Hotspot is a Wi-Fi hotspot that may be shared with up to five other Wi-Fi capable devices. Users will have to shell out $40 (approx. Rs.1,847) for 5GB and 5 cents per megabyte overage. Palm Pixi customers will be extended the option of customizing their handsets with the new color Pixi Touchstone back covers. They will be out in shades of black, blue, orange and green.

Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plans start at $39.99 (approx. Rs.1,847) monthly access and Nationwide Talk and Text Plans begin at $59.99 (approx. Rs.2,770) per month. Nationwide Unlimited Talk Plans and Nationwide Unlimited Talk and Text Plans may be availed at $69.99 (approx Rs.3,232) and $89.99 (approx. Rs.4,156) monthly access, correspondingly. Apart from that, the company has on offer other data plans to accompany the Palm Pre and Pixi phones.

Verizon will extend the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus for $149.99 (approx. Rs.6,928) and $99.99 (approx. Rs.4,618), respectively. Moreover, those who buy any one of the handsets before February 14, 2010 will get a Palm Plus for free after a mail-in rebate. The Pixi Touchstone back covers will be out for $29.99 (approx. Rs.1,385).
