Asus unveils uBoom series speakers

Asus uBoom Speakers

Booming music interests one and all. Keeping that in mind, Asus recently introduced its uBoom series speakers to entertain its consumers with surround sound music. The first multimedia speakers’ series from Asus aims to provide high fidelity audio and bass via a maze-like reflex port.

The series incorporates uBoom and uBoom Q sound-bar speakers that feature USB 2.0 connectivity for audio output. With the uBoom series, users can now enjoy movies, videos and games in superior clarity and bass. Both the speakers are compact and are 50% smaller than conventional 2.1 speaker set-ups. These speakers can be connected easily at the rear end of the notebook via USB 2.0. They effectively substitute the onboard sound with a high fidelity codec providing an enhanced audio experience.

The uBoom Q draws its power from the same USB 2.0 port, thus eradicating the need of a power adapter, wires and cables. uBoom can also be used as a notebook dock and provides more airflow, causing effective heat dispersion. Unnecessary overtones are also eliminated owing to its full aluminum body.

The uBoom measures 595mm x 135mm x 90mm and weighs around 3kg, while the uBoom Q is lighter weighing just 400g and its dimensions are 290mm x 110mm x 72mm. The uBoom is inclusive of one USB, AUX-in and a microphone jack connector. However the uBoom Q is devoid of the microphone jack.

The uBoom provides 4 ohms of speaker impedance while the uBoom Q offers 5 ohms. The total RMS of uBoom and uBoom Q are 24Watts and 2.4Watts respectively.

The pricing and the availability details are still under wraps.
