Motorola CA50 VoIP Enabled Wireless Scanner Motorola has announced CA50, a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)-enabled wireless scanner, which is aimed at retail, healthcare and hospitality service workers to enhance customer service.

Motorola claims that the new device will bridge the gap between store floors, across hospitals and restaurants as it offers employees to place or receive calls anywhere in the building.

The new CA50 VoIP-enabled wireless scanner incorporates wireless LAN, bar code scanning and information retrieval and VoIP for integrated mobile-phone style voice communications.

Bob Sanders, vice president and general manager of Advanced Data Capture, Motorola Enterprise Mobility business expressed his views on the new device. He said, “Motorola’s CA50 VoIP-enabled wireless scanner fills a communications void in the task and service-oriented-level environment by equipping all associates with a bar coding, data and voice device.”

“This device illustrates Motorola’s efforts to fuse legacy scanning technologies with new voice and wireless capabilities so that all employees are connected with the latest technology at their fingertips to better serve their customers and patients,” Sanders added.

Motorola CA50 is expected to reach in the global market in Q1 of 2008. However, the company has not disclosed any information regarding pricing.
