Sony has revealed a new portable DVD burner called DVDirect VRD-MC5, which is capable of receiving images and videos from a connected camcorder, VCR, or digital video recorder to create DVDs without the need of computer.
The new Sony device also has a slot for Memory Stick, SD/MMC, CompactFlash, and xD-Picture Card.
Sony MC5 incorporates a small 2.5 inch LCD display, which allows users to view and select the images to be burnt. The company claims that the portable DVD burner takes only 8 to 10 minutes to burn a full DVD disc of images. And each recorded disc can hold approximately 2000 image files.
Besides, burning JPEG formatted photos the device also can record standard-definition video, high-definition AVCHD and MP# audio files.
Sony VRD-MC5 will be available from August for about $230 (around Rs. 9,275).
