Altec Lansing unveils Speaker Systems for MP3 Players, Mobiles, Laptops and PCs

Yesterday, Altec Lansing announced a series of ultra-light, ultra- portable Bluetooth and corded speaker systems. The new speaker systems are compatible with MP3 enabled mobile phones, iPods, laptops and other portable digital devices. In addition, the manufacturer also announced to introduce a PC speaker system for flat-panel displays.

On the occasion of the launch Bernice Cramer, Vice President of Integrated Communications and Entertainment Products for Altec Lansing said, “Multimedia phones have elevated the utility of handsets beyond voice, and MP3 players and laptops are fundamentally changing the way consumers access and experience their favorite music and entertainment.”

He added further, “Our goal is to give consumers what they need to enjoy and share their mobile entertainment lifestyle with easy, portable and powerful speaker options from all the devices they use most.”

The iMT521 SoundBlade Stereo Bluetooth Speaker has a stylish design and features dual 2″ full-range high output speakers and full stereo Bluetooth v.2. Through Bluetooth the system can be connected to mobile phones and laptops. Besides, it is equipped with AVRCP for two-way remote volume, mute and track forward/back controls from a cellular handset. The iMT521 SoundBlade Stereo Bluetooth Speaker will be available in the US market from November 2007 at the price of $129.95 (approx 5,280 INR).

The iMT207 Orbit-M and iM207 Orbit-MP3 speakers are ultra portable speaker systems. The iM207 Orbit-MP3 speakers feature Fusion360 technology and also integrate cone design with a custom-built 40mm speaker driver to project a 360-degree sound field. While the iMT207 Orbit-M features a 3.5mm connector for iPod, iPhones and most MP3 players, with a 3.5mm-to-2.5mm adapter for most enabled music phones. Both the speakers are expected to be available in the next month.

The iMT217 Nobi Speaker is specially designed to be compatible with Nokia’s upcoming music phones, namely the 5310 XpressMusic and the 5610 XpressMusic. The speaker is extremely portable and weighs just 0.28kg. The Nobi provides clear 360-degree sound and works on AAA batteries. The battery allows playing 24 hours of audio. The iMT217 Nobi Speaker will be launched initially in Europe at the price of $39.95 (approx 1,625 INR).

The FX3020 SoundBar Speaker System is specially made for Flat-Panel PCs. It is a one-piece, low-profile rectangular speaker system that features precision-angled drivers and built-in sfx (sound field expander) sound-widening technology. The FX3020 SoundBar Speaker incorporates a single in/out cable to reduce the tangle of wires and also has side-positioned auxiliary input and headphone jacks. The speaker will be available for sale in October 2007 at an approximate cost of $99.95 (approx Rs. 4,060).
