HTC Desire 816G gets upgraded in India with better processor

The HTC Desire 816G smartphone has apparently being doing quite well in the Indian market so much that the company has decided to launch an upgraded version of the device which costs just Rs 1000 more. The new handset is tagged at Rs 19990, while the previous model was available for a price of Rs 18999, but can be picked up for much lower via e-commerce websites.

The upgraded HTC Desire 816G looks the same as the previous MediaTek-backed model which was originally a variant of the Snapdragon-powered Desire 816. The new one is also powered by a MediaTek processor, but with double the horsepower as the company has swapped the quad core chipset for an octa core SOC with a 1.7GHz clock speed.

The increase in performance will certainly be noticeable, especially in the graphics department. If this wasn’t enough, the internal storage has been doubled from 8GB to 16GB and the microSD card slot has also been retained. No other modifications appear to have been made and the HTC phone even continues to deliver dual SIM support with 3G HSPA connectivity.
