Lava Iris 502 price shows up, company to launch new phone each Friday

Lava Iris 502

The Lava Iris 502 price has snuck out through online shopping portals even before its official unveiling, and those interested in the 5-inch, Jelly Bean-based dual SIM smartphone can know that we’re looking at a Rs. 8,499 tag at the moment. We can very well expect this device to be launched later today, as the India-based brand has disclosed quite a unique plan for its line of new handsets. It states that we will be seeing a new phone being discharged from the company’s stable each Friday for a particular period of time.

And the sneaky preview of the 502 – a successor to the 501 – via shopping websites is an apparent indication that the limelight today (a Friday) will be aimed at this particular handset. Flipkart is currently listing it with a ‘Coming Soon’ tag, but is staying away from declaring its retail value or even its photographs, for that matter. Saholic on the other hand, isn’t shying away from revealing its images or its worth. Other portals such as Infibeam, Snapdeal and Indiatimes Shopping haven’t listed it however.

Friday Plan

Housing a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen on its 78mm x 145.5mm x 10.2mm body, this device coughs up a WVGA resolution of 480 x 800 pixels for its users. It features dual SIM abilities, with both slots providing support for GSM. Right now, it exists only in a black hue, and possesses the Android v4.1 Jelly Bean OS at its heart. The phone relies on a 1GHz processor to run its operations smoothly, while 512MB of RAM is also there to assist in this process.

The imaging attributes of the handset are highlighted by a 5MP primary camera which comes with support for auto focus, face detection, panorama shot and zoom. Furthermore, a front-facing VGA snapper can also be looked forward to by potential buyers. The 2000mAh Li-Polymer battery which goes into it keeps it running for 9 hours of continued use over 2G. Its standby time has been revealed to be 400 hours.

The Iris 502 by Lava has slipped out of its covers a little early, as its maker is yet to announce it officially. No prizes for guessing that this is indeed the first phone in the lineup of devices it plans to whip out each Friday.
