The Micromax A116 Canvas HD that was launched on Valentine’s Day last month has been delayed by 10 days and the company has also announced that its price has been revised from Rs. 13,990 to Rs. 14,449. To make it up to their customers, the manufacturer has decided to ship the phone along with a carrying case worth Rs. 700.
Although the A116 Canvas HD now carries a slightly heavier retail tag, those who have already placed their pre-orders will not be charged extra. And in case users are not happy about the 10-day delay, they have the option of cancelling their orders and demanding a refund from the concerned OEM. The main reason behind this holdup is procedural issues pertaining to a new Finance Bill passed in the country.
The third generation handset in this category brings some advanced features to the table. For starters, it binges on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 platform and interested customers can expect a version 4.2 OTA update too. Moreover, it appears to be capable of supporting multiple applications at the same time, as the phone hides a quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor under the hood to call the shots. This chipset clocks in a speed of 1.2GHz.
Its front panel is adorned with an IPS multi-touch display spanning 5 inches and rendering high definition visuals in 1280 x 720p resolution. A 2MP front-mounted webcam accompanies the screen, while an 8MP snapper with auto focus, LED flash and the ability to record HD videos is placed on the flip side. The phone is loaded with 1GB of RAM, 4GB ROM and 1.77GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card.
And if that’s not enough, the smartphone has been deployed with most of the essential sensors and is pre-loaded with apps like Hookup, M! Store, M! Zone+ and more. The dual SIM gadget has a micro USB 2.0 port as well as a standard 3.5mm headphone jack for tethering it to computer systems, peripherals or audio devices.
