Alcatel has launched in India the Idol Ultra as well as Idol from its One Touch portfolio and even then, the manufacturer has revealed the price details of only the former. That being said, there is no stating when both smartphones will be taking their places on retailers’ shelves across the country.
The gadgets had initially debuted in January through the CES 2013, wherein they had been accompanied by a phablet christened Scribe HD. With the introduction of each device, the manufacturer has clearly aimed at leaving a mark on the existing market. We say this because it has vouched to have crafted the 6.45mm slim Ultra to be the thinnest smartphone in the market currently, while it has termed the 110-gram Idol as the lightest Android handset in its category.
However, being the leanest in its kind isn’t the only aspect of the former that the company highlights. It goes on to say that the gadget sports a 4.7-inch HD display sharing space with a 1.3MP webcam and an 8MP rear-mounted camera on its exteriors. From within, a 1.2GHz dual core processor together with 1GB of RAM runs the show.
Next up is the lightest smartphone according to the maker’s claims. This gadget too can be recognized flashing a 4.7-inch display. It gets its high out of a dual core CPU pacing at a clock speed of up to 1GHz which relies on 512MB of RAM. There will be two variants of this phone gliding towards the market. The single SIM model can support storage of up to 4GB internally, although the unit which reserves space for an additional port will provide flash memory of up to 13GB.
Moving on to the similarities, it becomes quite apparent that both handsets have been optimized for the earlier version of Android Jelly Bean. Even the battery embedded under the hood runs common in both with a power of 1,800mAh.
A retail value of Rs. 21,000 has been marked on the Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra. NDTV Gadgets has disclosed that the Idol will be made available at Rs. 15,800. The post furthermore points out that the OEM has collaborated with network operator, Idea, so as to put forth a Rs. 261 worth data plan comprising of 3 months of Idea TV subscription to those on pre-paid and 1GB of 3G data. To utilize this scheme, post-paid customers will have to part with Rs. 259.
