Samsung Galaxy S4 to retain physical home button, ditches the stylus

Samsung Galaxy S4

A fresh set on speculations regarding the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 which may be releasing on March 15 have surfaced on the web. These suggest that the upcoming smartphone will retain the physical home button and contrary to earlier rumors, will not be accompanied with a pen stylus.

Unwired View happened to come across this piece of news about the Galaxy S4 at the Korean-language website DDaily. While the South Korean manufacturer has decided to keep S Pen exclusive to the Note series, it hasn’t given up plans of including touchless gesture support in the yet-to-be introduced smartphone. This gesture recognition function is likely to eliminate the need to use a stylus, anyway.

Also, the home button which is seen on almost all phones from the company, will continue to adorn the front panel. Besides this, back and menu buttons will be placed on either side of the home key. These will be capacitive in nature and apparently their positions have been swapped. So, prospective users can expect the back key to be placed on the left and the menu one on the right side.

For refresher’s sake, the handset which is gearing up to show up in black and white hues, gorges on the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 OS. And considering that Google plans to launch Key Lime Pie 5.0, the device should receive the OTA update as soon as the platform is introduced. Its intuitive interface will be displayed through a huge 4.99-inch Super AMOELD multi-touch panel which should be capable of rendering high definition images if 1920 x 1080p resolution.

We understand that after the quad core S3, the OEM in question has decided to go a step further and integrate an 8 core Exynos 5 Octa processor for efficient multitasking and smooth navigation. A Mali-T658 GPU should work towards delivering improved graphics. It may be armed with a 720p HD 2MP webcam and a 13MP rear-facing snapper to shoot 1080p movies at 30fps.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is supposed to hit stores in April this year.
