The Samsung Galaxy Young, a mid-range Android phone that was leaked through GLBenchmark tests some time ago, has been officially introduced by its manufacturer. Another similar smartphone dubbed Fame has also stepped out to give prospective users a glimpse of its specifications, but their price and release date details are kept under wraps for now.

In select markets, the Galaxy Young will be available as a dual SIM phone, complete with features like Always On and Hybrid Dual SIM. Compliant with mobile networks like HSPA, EDGE and GPRS, the device comes with built-in Wi-Fi for internet access through an open hotspot. There’s Bluetooth 3.0 as well for pairing up compatible gadgets and wirelessly transferring digital data.

This handset tips the scales at 112 grams and measures 58.6 x 109.4 x 12.5 millimeters. Its compact form factor with rounded edges for a comfortable grip, is splashed in shades of deep blue, wine red, metallic silver and white. As for the display, it has been blessed with a 3.27-inch HVGA TFT touchscreen, but lacks a front-facing webcam. Nevertheless, a 3MP camera that records videos at the rate of 24 frames per second has been thrown in.

And if that’s not all, the South Korean conglomerate’s latest contender relishes the Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS and is deployed with TouchWiz as well as the Motion UI. A 1GHz processor works in conjunction with 768MB of RAM to ensure smooth multitasking and improved navigation. While there’s only 4GB of internal storage, an expansion slot has been embedded into it for additional memory of 64GB.

The phone is also equipped with attributes to keep users entertained at all times. Its incorporated media player supports file formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, MIDI, WMA and more. The built-in GPS facilitates accurate turn-by-turn navigation. It should cough up the juice for an entire day, thanks to a lithium-ion standard battery of 1300mAh capacity.

The Samsung Galaxy Young smartphone’s availability details are yet to be announced.
