LG Optimus L9 unveiled with 4.7-inch IPS display, high capacity battery

With the announcement of LG Optimus L9, the company has expanded its L-Series lineup of smartphones which includes the Optimus L3, L5 and L7. Potential buyers will be able to access the QMemo app along with a few other attributes like My Style Keyboard and QTranslator.

This handset runs on the Ice Cream Sandwich platform powered by a dual core processor that operates at 1GHz. A 4-inch IPS touch panel spans across its 131.9mm x 68.2mm x 9.1mm contour which weighs around 125 grams. Placed above the display is a VGA camera that enables users to conduct face-to-face chats while on the go. There is also a 5MP rear-facing snapper for image capture and video recording. In terms of memory, the device packs in 1GB of RAM and a 4GB eMMC flash drive.

“The Optimus L9 is a great smartphone that appeals to every consumer,” exclaimed Jongseok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “LG will continue to offer differentiated value through the Optimus L9 and strengthen our position in the smartphone market.”

One of the prime highlight of this smartphone is the QTranslator function which can decipher words, phrases and sentences from 44 foreign speeches to 64 user languages via the OCR technology. In order to access this feature, all users need to do is scan the content they intend on converting by employing the rear-facing camera and they are set to go. Apart from DLNA support, the company has included a 2,150mAh battery clubbed with SiO+ technology to juice up the device.

The LG Optimus L9 price and release date details haven’t been unveiled as yet.
