Idea Aurus

The Idea Aurus price in India was let out along with other details at a launch event held in the country today. The Android device is a dual SIM phone that’s capable of surfing the 3G wave and it’s being marketed as an affordable option with video calling abilities.

The Gingerbread handset gets its steam from an 800MHz processor and a 3.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display is spread out across the front face. Like we’ve already mentioned, the phone can deal with a maximum of 2 SIM cards and there’s a 5MP rear camera as well as a front snapper. For hoarding purposes, entertainment buffs can dump the included 4GB card for up to 32GB of storage.

Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, cited, “3G is becoming an enabler in smaller towns which don’t have good broadband access. Deep rooted mobile network and availability of affordable smartphones are making acceptance and adoption of 3G services faster in tier 2 and 3 towns. The new Aurus will offer key 3G features like video calling which will be a new experience for users of all age groups, especially the youth and working professionals, who want to own high-end, feature rich smartphones but find them unaffordable.”

Apart from the Aurus, the company’s 3G portfolio also includes the Idea Blade, ID 280 and ID 918. The last mentioned is an Android 2.3 device, while the other two run on the Froyo platform. Considering that these are aimed towards the mid-range market, potential buyers can hardly expect them to be stuffed with breath-taking specifications. All four are priced much below Rs. 8,000.

The Idea Aurus price in India is Rs. 7,190. The company is tempting those considering the handset with 3G benefits worth Rs. 2,340 on a Rs. 259 recharge.
