Even while Samsung is busy taking the Galaxy S III on a globetrotting escapade, the company continues to roll out budget-friendly devices such as the recently unveiled AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal. The prepaid phone will be made available through Walmart on June 5 and through AT&T GoPhone outlets in mid-June.

This first prepaid smartphone for the carrier to feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, binges on the Android Gingerbread platform. Its front panel dons a 3.2-inch HVGA TFT multi-touch color screen of 480 x 320p resolutions. The handset’s rear side has been fitted with a 3MP camera that features 3x zoom and records videos at the rate of 24 frames per second.

Measuring 4.41 x 2.27 x 0.56 inches, the eco-friendly device made out of recycled plastic, weighs not more than 4.3oz. The internal working of the Appeal is carried out under the supervision of the 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor based on ARM Cortex A5 and 512MB RAM. Its 1.8GB onboard memory can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card and it draws power from a 1,300mAh lithium-ion battery that should cough up the juice for up to 7 hours at a stretch.

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal price is tagged at around $150 (approx. Rs. 8,330). It requires monthly plans of $5, $15 or $25 per month for data usage of 50MB, 200MB and 1GB, respectively. These data packages will be available with $50 GoPhone plan for unlimited talk and text and $25 scheme for unlimited text and 250 nationwide minutes. As mentioned above, the phone will hit Walmart on June 5 and authorized AT&T retailers on June 15.
