Panasonic Eluga 01

The latest device that’s gearing up to toddle into Europe dubbed Panasonic Eluga, seems like a promising smartphone, but only if the company had put in more thought to come up with a better name. The Eluga or ‘elegant user-oriented gateway’ is a slim and durable device and appears pretty similar to a previously reported Panasonic device.

Running the Android Gingerbread (2.3.5) platform, it weighs not more than 103 grams. The slim and sleek d-shaped exterior with dimensions of 123 x 62 x 7.8 millimeters, can resist water in a depth of about 1 meter for 30 minutes. 66 percent of the total body surface of this handset is dominated by a 4.3-inch QHD OLED capacitive multi-touch display of 960 x 540p resolution.

The NFC enabled phone extends support to the VieraRemote app to control Viera TVs and other home entertainment electronics, wirelessly. Featuring 8GB internal memory, it boasts of an 8MP camera with auto focus.

Furthermore, Engadget has stumbled on information regarding the Next Series P-04D by NTT docomo, that bears resemblances to the Eluga phone. This deep purple colored smartphone flaunts a 4.3-inch QHD touchscreen of 540 x 960p resolution. Its dust and water proof, 7.8mm enclosure also weighs 103 grams. And if that’s not enough, it even acquires multitasking properties from the OMAP4430 processor. The P-04D will tentatively be available from March 31.
