The LG Optimus Vu that comes across as a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note, is all geared up to make its first appearance at the MWC 2012. The ‘tablet-smartphone hybrid’ will be made available in Korea next month, but there is no word on when it will start its globetrotting escapade.

The ‘multimedia lover’s dream device’ according to the company, offers a huge, 5-inch, multi-touch real estate, which is deployed with the IPS display technology. This touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 4:3, delivers images in 1024 x 768p resolutions. Combining a tablet’s functionality with a smartphone’s portability, it allows users to launch multiple operations with the assistance of the 1.5GHz dual core processor. Featuring 1GB DDR2 RAM, it comes with 32GB eMMC memory.

The 8.5mm thin LG Optimus Vu, employs the company’s floating mass technology and is sleek enough to easily fit into the jacket pocket. The slab draws power from a 2,080mAh battery and although it binges on the Android Gingerbread platform, it is upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. An 8MP primary camera with attributes like auto-focus and LED flash, is accompanied by a 1.3MP front facing webcam.

The device also simplifies taking notes using the Rubberdium pen and is embedded with a QuickClip hotkey. This dedicated button lets users capture screenshots and memos through a single click. It comes pre-loaded with productive apps including Polaris Office to view and edit documents on the go. Furthermore, the connectivity options comprise HDMI and DLNA to establish connections with big screen TVs and monitors.
