Verizon Wireless LG Spectrum employs HD IPS display

The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE portfolio has been augmented even further with the introduction of the LG Spectrum, which will be released later this month. The 4.5-inch IPS display utilizes the same technology as the company deploys in its high definition televisions.

The multi-touch display features an aspect ratio of 16:9, 329PPI screen density and 1280 x 720p resolutions to project undistorted images on its Corning Gorilla glass-protected screen. The Gingerbread device is fueled by a 1.5GHz dual core processor and will be upgradeable to Android 4.0 in the first half of this year. Its rear facing 8MP camera possesses attributes like auto focus, LED flash and 1080p video capturing capabilities. Also included is a 1.3MP webcam to facilitate video conferencing.

This multimedia-ready phone supports memory of up to 32GB capacity and is accompanied by a 16GB microSD card. The communication options are inclusive of Bluetooth v3.0, SmartShare for DLNA-certified devices and HDMI mirroring via MHL. Its mobile hotspot functionality allows connections with up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled gadgets. The built-in Dolby Digital Plus enhances the audio experience by lending support to 7.1 channel surround sound via home theater systems.

Moreover, sports enthusiasts will appreciate the ESPN ScoreCenter app and with the Netflix application pre-loaded in the phone, users can enjoy good quality movies on the go. Needless to say, it provides access to the Android Market as well as various Google Mobile services including YouTube, Google Search, Gmail and Google Talk amongst others.

The LG Spectrum price tag reads $199.99 (approx. Rs. 10,345) and it will hit Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and the official web portal on January 19. It requires a two-year customer agreement, Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and smartphone data package.
