AT&T Nokia Lumia 820 price disclosed, release date set for tomorrow

The price of the AT&T Nokia Lumia 820 has been revealed and its release date is set for tomorrow, November 9, 2012. It is already up for pre-order along with its sibling, the Lumia 920.

The versatile Lumia phone arrives encased in a black-colored chassis that measures 123.8 x 68.5 x 9.9 millimeters and tips the scales at 160 grams. This monoblock device accommodates a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack capacitive multipoint-touch display of 15:9 aspect ratio, complete with a polarization filter, high brightness mode and sunlight readability enhancements amongst others. It claims to deliver high definition images in 800 x 480p resolution.

An 8MP primary camera, possessing attributes like dual LED flash, a Carl Zeiss Tessar optical lens, auto focus with two-stage capture key, 4x digital zoom and more, is embedded on the back panel. It also tags along a front-mounted webcam of 640 x 480p resolution for video calling purposes. The Lumia 820 is capable of recording high definition 1080p videos as well.

The internal working of the device is carried out under the supervision of a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB onboard memory, 7GB of SkyDrive storage and an expansion slot for a microSD card of up to 64GB capacity. Fitted with a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack, the handset offers wireless communication options like Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC apart from Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.

Running the Windows Phone 8 platform, it is deployed with video and music players which extend support to formats like MP3, MP4, AAC, WMA, 3GP and AMR to name a few. Proprietary applications like Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia City Lens and Nokia Transport have been pre-loaded into the GPS-certified smartphone. It draws power from a 1650mAh battery that coughs up the juice for talk time of 14 hours in the 2G mode.

The AT&T Nokia Lumia 820 has been priced at $49.99 (approx. Rs. 2,720) with a two-year customer agreement. Its no-commitment cost stands at $399.99 (approx. Rs. 21,785).
