If rumors are to be believed, Verizon is speculated to introduce the Motorola Droid 4, a new contender which is strikingly similar to its predecessor, Droid Razr. The leaked pictures reveal that the phone will feature an edge-lit keyboard, while the chart with specifications of handsets belonging to the Droid series, confirms its resemblance to Razr.

Besides laying its hands on these pictures, Droid Life has also found out that the phone is barely a couple of weeks away from its launch. Reportedly, it will go up on sale starting December 8 through Verizon. As mentioned earlier, the phone is very much similar to Droid Razr, though it lacks Kevlar fiber and sports a slightly smaller display. The major difference is the addition of the 5-row edge-lit physical QWERTY keypad.

The smartphone fueled by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM promises faster interface and multitasking capabilities. It is outfitted with a 4-inch qHD touchscreen with Corning Gorilla glass and nanocoating to withstand scratches as well as spills. This 4G LTE enabled device boasts of an 8MP camera with image stabilization which shoots HD videos of 1080p resolution. It also lets users engage in video chatting through its front-facing webcam.

The Gingerbread based smartphone is pre-loaded with applications such as MotoCast and Smart Actions. Its UI featuring scrollable, interactive and resizable widgets allows customization of the device. The Droid 4 draws power from a 1785mAh battery and supports HDMI connection to enjoy its content on big screen HDTVs.

The Motorola Droid 4 is expected to release next month. There is no word on the pricing details of the smartphone.
