Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus now shipping through Expansys

Fans in the U.S. may not have to wait for long if they are contemplating over pocketing the Ice Cream Sandwich based Samsung Galaxy Nexus as it has now started shipping through Expansys. The unlocked version of this Google certified smartphone works with the 3G networks of AT&T and T-Mobile.

Engadget says it received an independent confirmation about this device’s dispatch to customers who ordered the handset. The smartphone running the Google Android 4.0 OS acquires its multitasking capabilities from a dual-core processor that runs at a speed of 1.2GHz along with 1GB RAM. Featuring an improved and user-friendly interface, the device is said to offer an enhanced web browsing experience. Its front panel dons a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD capacitive multi-touch display which offers 1280 x 720-pixel resolutions.

The smartphone measuring 135.5 x 67.94 x 8.94 millimeters, tips the scale at 135 grams. Integrated with an internal GPS antenna for navigation, this device is deployed with an accelerometer, barometer, compass in addition to gyro, light and proximity sensors. Moreover, this device sports dual cameras. The rear-facing 5MP boasts of attributes such as autofocus and built-in LED flash and can shoot full high definition videos of 1080p resolution at the rate of 30 frames per second.

The phone offers communication options like GPRS, EDGE together with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n. The Galaxy Nexus is also capable of serving as a mobile hotspot and simplifies data sharing owing to its NFC functionality. Other connectivity outputs include a 3.5mm stereo audio jack and a microUSB 2.0 port. It draws power from a 1750mAh rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.

The 16GB version of the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone is now shipping via Expansys in the U.S. The price tag attached to the device reads $749.99 (approx. Rs. 39,070).
