Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The much awaited flagship Android smartphone by Google, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, may very well be on its way to India if its official page is anything to go by. The Google Nexus India page cites that the handset is ‘coming soon’, which indicates that India figures in the list of the 19 countries in the world to receive it in the first shipping phase.

Besides setting sail for the U.S. and the UK, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is set to be available in Australia, Brazil, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and of course, India. Also on the list are Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia and Korea. Exclusive web pages for all these nations have been created by Google so as to allow prospective customers to register for receiving updates about the many features and availability status of the device.

The latest smartphone coming from Google and Samsung’s stable is the first one to run on the recently released Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich OS. It is embedded with a 4.65-inch 1280 x 720p HD Super AMOLED capacitive multi-touch display and offers 1GB RAM. Operating on a 1.2GHz dual core processor, the stylish handset is as slim as 8.84mm and brings along a variety of unique features.

One of these is Android Beam that enables users to share content like apps, contacts, websites, maps and YouTube videos smoothly through NFC. The Face Unlock functionality eliminates the need of passwords for securing the device as it registers users’ face as the lock code itself. Furthermore, this smartphone sports a 1.3MP front and a 5MP rear facing camera with zero shutter-lag, LED flash, digital zoom and autofocus features.

The Galaxy Nexus is speculated to arrive in India by the end of this month. Details regarding the Samsung Galaxy Nexus price and availability have not yet been revealed.
