Vodafone Smart smartphone announced

Vodafone Smart Smartphone Vodafone last entered the market with its miniscule and highly portable R201 MiFi device. The company has now neatly carved out its new Vodafone Smart smartphone which offers a perfect blend of performance and style.

This handset will be up for grabs in a wide array of hues, from refined monochromes, through vibrant brights, to personalized graphic designs. Users can further amplify their experience and customize the handset by simply developing one-off covers on the web. In addition, with spring/summer and autumn/winter cover ranges envisaged, users can gather their most liked covers.

Patrick Chomet, Vodafone Group Terminals Director, commented, “More and more Vodafone customers are enjoying the benefits of smartphones which currently account for over 40% of the phones we sell in Europe. Continuing to push the boundaries through our own-brand range, the Vodafone Smart is a new smartphone concept.”

Powered by the Android 2.2 operating system, the smartphone enables users to effortlessly access different apps form the Android Market and interesting Google Mobile services such as Gmail, Google Maps and Google Talk. Other attributes include a zoom camera and capacitive touchscreen, along with connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

“It takes the higher end mobile internet experience and packages it for the mass market, its range of covers and accessories making it a fun fashion statement. Available on pay as you go plans, and on the fast, reliable Vodafone networks, the Vodafone Smart is a great step-up into the world of mobile data,” added Patrick Chomet.

The homescreen comes along with direct links to essential content and features comprising Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, Vodafone’s Prepay Manager for quick top-ups and Vodafone Music. It also sports the updates widget for seamless access to a shortlist of popular Android Market apps and other services chosen by local Vodafone editors.

The Vodafone Smart smartphone will hit shelves by early summer. Users in Germany, Italy and the U.K. will be among the first to pick up this device for around €90 (approx Rs. 5,717).
