Nokia HumanForm concept phone twists its way to glory

HumanForm by Nokia

While the whole world is immersed in the current wave of touchscreen devices, a new concept dubbed the Nokia HumanForm takes intuitiveness in terms of user interfaces to a new level. The concept is being developed by designers Tapani Jokinen and Jarkko Saunamaki for Nokia Design and Nokia Research Center.

A result of this technology is the Nokia Kinetic bendy phone which was showcased recently at the Nokia World 2011. This is not exactly the first time when we have come across a flexible device that bends or for that matter is transparent but that hardly stops us from marveling at the concept.

The HumanForm is elastic enough to twist according to the whims and fancies of its user. The manipulative device easily shifts shape to fit into the ergonomic form with ease. This bendy device goes a step ahead with nanotechnology. And while most other gadgets are limited to gesture recognition, this device claims to connect with its owner on an emotional level.

Boasting of ‘invisible technology’, the highly intuitive device also features voice communication. Its prototype, the Nokia Kinetic bendy phone should let users operate it by twisting, squeezing or flexing the device. Twisting it lets users scroll through contents, while bending allows selecting the desired file. Besides being designed to offer an enhanced browsing experience, the device allows performing multiple commands at once. And as mentioned by Tapani Jokinen, it’ll be a while before the phone enters mass production.

The Nokia HumanForm seems like a workable concept at least through its pictures.
