Boost Mobile will pick up Motorola i1 handset

Back in March we reported on Sprint’s plans to pick up the Motorola i1 for customers. Now Boost Mobile has decided to add the Motorola i1 to their list of offerings for mobile phone aficionados. This walkie-talkie enabled Android handset flaunts a 3.1” HVGA touchscreen display and is attributed with a 5MP camera with AF, flash and video recording capabilities.

The phone is proffered with a 2GB microSD card and is capable of approximately 32GB memory expansion. The phone permits users to access instant messaging with its preloaded Google Talk, support for additional messaging clients through Yahoo, AIM and other such online messengers.

“Last year Boost disrupted the wireless marketplace with the $50 Monthly Unlimited offer, and we are doing it again with the launch of the Motorola i1,” cited Neil Lindsay, chief marketing officer, Boost Mobile. “Together with Motorola, we are able to offer the Android experience to those customers who enjoy the walkie-talkie feature. And with 1,100 Best Buy locations, 80 Best Buy Mobile stores and exclusive Boost Mobile stores nationwide, customers will not have to search far to find this hot handset.”

The Motorola i1 is stereo Bluetooth enabled and incorporates a built-in GPS system. It comes with the Opera Mini 5 and Android browsers. Users can access Wi-Fi as also access MSN, Yahoo, Email Exchange, Gmail and more on their devices. The handset also integrates Swype technology that complements the optional virtual keypad.

The Motorola i1 is expected to be available Boost Mobile outlets, Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores across the U.S. starting from June 20 this month. It will be offered with the Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited service that delivers unlimited nationwide talk, text and web for $50 (approx. Rs. 2,350) per month.
