Blackberry Tour with WiFi connectivity coming next year

Blackberry Tour 9630 With the ever increasing popularity of Wi-Fi connectivity, Sprint is said to offer the Blackberry Tour smartphone with Wi-fi support by next year, reports Cnet.

The RIM BlackBerry Tour bundles up a 3.2-megapixel camera, world-roaming capabilities, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone provides a combination of a sharp display and an ergonomic QWERTY keyboard. The advanced features are all packaged in a compact device.

“It is now a requirement for all our PDA equipment suppliers to include Wi-Fi,” said Sprint’s director of business product marketing, Jeff Clemow, in an interview with Fierce Wireless.

According to Cnet, Clemow futher stated that the carrier decided to release the current version of the Tour to bring its lineup up to date and that “speed to market…outweighed the desire to wait for Wi-Fi.”

Reportedly, Verizon Wireless is likely to be working with RIM to bring more Wi-Fi-enabled Blackberry smartphones for its consumers.

Well, those planning to own the Blackberry Tour with WiFi connectivity will have to wait until next year.
