HTC Tilt 2, Pure Handsets

The coming week is sure to witness the launch of a host of mobile devices flaunting the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. Leading this brigade are two handsets from AT&T, the HTC Pure and the Tilt2. These long rumored versions of the Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 have finally been given an official introduction by AT&T.

The HTC Pure offers full touchscreen experience with its 3.2-inch WVGA display. Optimized for one-hand use, the Pure promises to provide a TouchFLO 3D experience. The Pure is said to fit flawlessly in the palm of the hand. The notable features like five megapixel auto-focus camera with video capture, expandable memory, gravity sensor and ambient light sensor are said to enhance the appeal of this handset.

“As one of the first carriers to support Windows Mobile 6.5 in the U.S. and the largest distributor of Windows phones worldwide, AT&T has a long history of leadership in smartphones and Windows Mobile,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “Twice as many smartphone users choose AT&T over any other carrier and the HTC Tilt 2 and HTC Pure will lead our Windows phone lineup into 2010.”

The Tilt 2 is a touchscreen handset that comes embedded with a full slide-out QWERTY keypad. The 3.6-inch WVGA display has been optimized for heavy e-mail use. The other features that improve the style quotient of this handset include dual speakers and dual microphones with advanced noise cancellation and HTC’s Straight Talk technology for simplified conference calling.

AT&T is presently offering the HTC Pure via its retail outlets and online store for a price of $149 (approx. Rs. 7,089). The company plans to offer the Tilt 2 in the coming weeks. The Tilt 2 will be price tagged at $299 (approx. Rs. 14,227).
