Motorola has joined hands with Sprint and its sub-brand Boost Mobile to launch a new clamshell phone called Motorola Stature i9. The company claims that the phone is the thinnest iDEN flip phone.

The Motorola Stature i9 phone boasts a slim design of only 15mm and a touch sensitive exterior flip. The external touch sensitive buttons provide an easy and quick access to music and GPS. The ModeShift technology of the phone allows the external keys to change its functionality according to a user’s current application. Additionally, the phone incorporates a 3.1 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus.

“With its advanced feature set and a style that requires a double take, Motorola Stature i9 represents a significant milestone in our iDEN history,” explained Rick Gadd, vice president, Motorola Mobile Devices. “In addition, offering this device to consumers in both a post-paid option with Sprint and pre-paid option with Boost Mobile shows the continued consumer demand for iDEN products and our ongoing commitment to the technology.”

The phone’s unique push to talk technology offers the following options to its users:

  • The International Direct connect enables a user to have push to talk communications in US, Canada, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
  • The Direct Talk option will allow users to communicate with each other in the areas where there is no network coverage.
  • Users can send images and contact information to another direct send enabled phone through the Direct Send option.
  • The Group Connect service enables the i9 users to enjoy group push to talk conversations with upto 20 participants.
  • Furthermore, the sleek Motorola Stature i9 is packed with an internal memory of 8GB that can store in ample of data, images and videos. It also has Bluetooth capabilities to wirelessly connect the phone to other mobile phones.

    The Motorola Stature i9 phone is scheduled to release in February via Boost for $299.99 (Approx Rs. 14, 600). The phone will be available via Sprint at a price of $199.99 (Approx Rs. 9,700) with a two year service agreement and after $50 mail in rebate.
