Fujitsu FOMA F905i Phone adds Fingerprint Sensor

Fujitsu FOMA F905i Phone Fujitsu has joined hands with AuthenTec, the world’s leading provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions, to launch its latest mobile phone called FOMA F905i that incorporates AES1710 fingerprint sensor technology. However, only 14 AuthenTec-enabled cell phone models will be available.

The sensor-equipped global phone is compatible with international roaming via 3G and GSM cellular networks. Many phones allow various economical operations such as m-commerce and online banking, which require security to curb loss or theft.

“We are pleased to offer this new smart phone model, which can not only be used virtually anywhere in the world, but offers cell phone users convenient security via an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor,” stated by Hideyuki Saso, president of Mobile Phone Group from Fujitsu Limited.

The FOMA F905i features a 3.2″ VGA TFT display, 3.2-megapixel camera and built-in GPS. Users are allowed to swipe out their memory and even disable few features such as camera and infrared, provided it is prohibited in such places.

AuthenTec’s AES1710 is based on the TruePrint technology that enables AuthenTec sensors to read virtually every fingerprint, every time. It is situated on the back panel of the handset to authenticate themselves with a finger swipe.

“Fujitsu built its wireless market leadership in Japan by offering outstanding quality, innovation and technical leadership in their mobile phone products, and their newest offering of fingerprint-enabled world phones is no exception,” maintained Art Stewart, AuthenTec’s vice president of Wireless Products.

The Fujitsu FOMA F905i phone will be available via NTT DoCoMo. However, its price is yet unknown.
