We had recently reported about the the first BlackBerry flip smartphone. Now, RIM has announced its exclusive collaboration with T-Mobile to release the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, in the US market.
Shining in black, the flip smartphone sports sophisticated multimedia features such as a 2.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom, video recording and playback, stereo Bluetooth support and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi with improved internet surfing experience.
“The flip phone remains the vastly dominant and preferred design for mobile phones in the United States. Being the first company in the US to offer the unique BlackBerry experience on a flip phone is a huge benefit for T-Mobile customers,” stated Leslie Grandy, vice president, product development, T-Mobile USA.
Moreover, the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 incorporates T-Mobile’s value-added features that include T-Mobile Unlimited HotSpot Calling service for unlimited, nationwide calling; T-Mobile HotSpot locations nationwide and in-home coverage along with T-Mobile’s myFaves support and superior SureType keyboard.
“The BlackBerry Pearl Flip takes all the advanced features and refined usability that customers have come to expect from BlackBerry smartphones and makes them available in a friendly and innovative design,” mentioned Mark Guibert, vice president, corporate marketing, Research In Motion. “Whether they are sending text messages or e-mail, listening to music or simply making phone calls, customers are going to love using this phone.”
In addition, the clamshell smartphone also employs QVGA 2.4-inch diagonal screen (320×240) pixels, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, enhanced HTML browser, 128 MB of flash memory, 256 MB microSD card and support for up to a 16 GB microSD/SDHC card. It works on quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE/Wi-Fi network and enables international roaming.
Backed by a two years contract, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone is available in the American market for a suggested price of $149.99 (approx. Rs. 7,226) via T-Mobile retail stores and select authorized dealers.
