Spice Mobile has announced a partnership with Qualcomm Inc., a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, to roll out 3G Mobile Handset & an Open Market CDMA2000 Handset in the Indian market. Called S-950 and C-810, both the mobile phones are claimed to be the countries first highly differentiated 3G CDMA (CDMA2000 and WCDMA) devices.

Bollywood superstar Katrina Kaif launched the two Spice phones. While the S-950 boasts to be the first Indian branded 3G device, and C-810 is believed to be a full-featured CDMA2000 device for the open market in the nation.

This association will further strengthen our leadership in the domestic market, empowering us with an enhanced portfolio consisting of a variety of feature-rich handsets. The Indian CDMA market has been limited to operator dependent handsets. We take pride to be the first again to offer open market CDMA handsets. Ltd.

Based on Qualcomm’s Mobile Station Modem (MSM) MSM6245 chipset solution, the S-950 3G devices deliver outstanding wireless multimedia features, including 2 megapixel camera, 262K color screen, music player (supporting MP3,AAC,AAC+ file formats), stereo Bluetooth, integrated stereo FM radio, video playback and JAVA. Users will also get to access wideband service like high-speed net browsing, high resolution video and improved quality image transmission with the same quality as fixed networks.

Furthermore, the 3G handset has value added content and applications that includes the Google Search engine, Opera mini Browser, NGPay application for banking/ticketing and many more along with expandable memory and EDGE / GPRS / GSM connectivity. It also integrates content from the latest Bollywood movie named ‘Jannat’.

Spice Mobile C-810 works on the QSC6020 chipset from the Qualcomm Single-Chip (QSC) family ensuring a tiny, sleeker but yet more power-efficient device. Boasting to be the first of its kind phone, it has the capability to work continuously for 10 hours on talk time mode and for 15-day standby. The latest handset carries a large 2.2-inch display screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, music player (compliant with MP3 and AAC files), pre-installed FM radio video player, Bluetooth, BREW and internal storage of 500 songs or 1000 images with expandable memory support.
