I am using a 8830 from Verizon and every thing works fine in the US as expected. It also worked fine in Paris. However, there is no data service available while I am here in India. Very disappointing, since this was promoted as working around the world.

I have the exact same issue. It sucks that it does not work in India which is the top 3 fastest growing wireless markets in the world. Also a lot of IT professionals go back and forth between US and India.

I have had a problem receiving e-mails on my Blackberry 8830. During my current trip(in fact as of a few minutes ago) my e-mails are being received in my blackberry. The only thing that I did was to send an e-mail out. I am not sure if that triggered a connection or the by some strange fluke the data connection was released in India at the same time. Any way worth a try.
