Apple’s iPhone does feature a camera, but never thought to develop a two-way video conference.

iPhone Video Conference

Ken and Greg Aspeslagh have developed a creative hack in the iPhone within a short timeframe, at the C-4 developer conference features “Iron Coder Live” contest. With this hack, both the hackers installed the iPhone toolchain and made use of Huckleberry Mirror for capturing videos. Ken and Aspeslagh won the first prize for their stupendous efforts.

Let’s see how it works. With the help of the mirror, the iPhone captures video from the camera, compresses it and sends it to a web server, later it is replayed to another iPhone and vice versa. Thus, the iPhone can now be used for two-way video conference.

The audio with video conference is still not hacked by the team. However, there is one way to do the same. Make a call from an iPhone to another iPhone user and put it on speaker and add the video conference program.

There is one flaw that the camera is placed at the back of the device, so how does the video conference actually work? Hacks must have thought of it. Ecamm product line – Huckleberry mirror, a periscope comes into frame. However, it does not really fit perfectly onto the iPhone.

The iPhone-Huckleberry-stand enables two-way mirror-based video conference over Wi-Fi. The image on the camera gets reflected on the mirror and thanks to a built-in software it gets to the web

Sadly, this hack is still not available to the iPhone owners.
