The New, sleek Blackberry 8800 unveiled by Research in Motion(RIM)

Blackberry 8800 Smartphone Today, Research in Motion (RIM), has unveiled a newer version of the Blackberry Smartphone- the Blackberry 8800. So what’s new in the Blackberry 8800? Well, for starters, the all new Blackberry 8800 will replace RIM’s signature side navigation wheel with a front trackball that first appeared on the recently launched Blackberry Pearl.

RIM also claims that the Blackberry 8800 is the thinnest Blackberry to be manufactured till date, as it measured just 0.55-inches from the front to the back. The 8800 is however, slightly taller than its predecessor.

The all new Blackberry 8800 Smartphone can also pick up signals from GPS satellites for location tracking, as the phone comes installed with Blackberry maps, which is an application that can use GPS signals to provide driving directions. Moreover, the Blackberry 8800 can also send a map via e-mail.

The Blackberry 8800 also comes with a media player and an external storage slot for removable microSD memory cards.

The Blackberry 8800 Smartphone will be available in the US from February 21 onwards, and is priced at $300 (Rs.13,246). You will also get a two-year contract commitment.
