SMS Alert for House and Car Safety against Robbers initiated in Mumbai by Micro Technologies

Getting SMSes about the latest offers and promotional schemes has always irritated most of us. But now, text messages will provide you with information on your house and car being robbed. That’s what is called an innovative technology in an unpredictable city like Mumbai.

Mumbai-based Micro Technologies has introduced their latest product, which sends an SMS to the user cautioning them of thefts, imminent accidents. The alert is not just sent via SMS but also through e-mail and landline.

The products include Micro Vehicle Black Box (VBB) and Micro House Black Box (HBB). Micro VBB is an anti-theft security system that can detect any unauthorized access into the vehicle.

“Micro VBB uses various sensors to detect smoke or events such as forcible intrusion. It is also proactive in enabling the vehicle owner to exercise control over his vehicle till it is traced,” said Dr P. Sekhar, Chairman and Managing Director, Micro Technologies.

If the user gets the SMS or other ways of warning of car theft, he has to send commands in a prescribed format through an SMS to the given number. As soon as the command reaches the system via SMS, it puts the car engine out of action and locks the doors.

Whereas, Micro HBB warns of any unauthorized entry in the premises in a same way.

“Apart from messaging as a mode of intimation during incidents such as intrusion, smoke detection or gas leakage, the system is also incorporated with audio effects such as a siren,” said Sekhar.

The company claims, if the user carries GSM-enabled handsets, this latest technology will work better comparing to other basic handsets. More than 2,000 private car-owners along with corporate customers are using this remote activated device.

Micro Technologies has also unveiled a mobile tracking system to locate users’ lost mobile devices. Next in the line is a system which can detect the new phone number after the user’s mobile gets lost and a new SIM card is placed into the same. For this system to work, Micro has partnered with Airtel.
