AT&T Inc. and Samsung Telecommunication have revealed the availability of the Samsung SGH-a717 and SGH-a727. The Samsung SGH-a717 is a clamshell style phone whereas SGH-a727 is a bar style phone but both the devices offer a rich multimedia experience in an ultra-slim form factor.
The a717 and a727 measure 12.9 mm and 8.9mm respectively and thus labeled as the slimmest 3G phone available from AT&T. The multitude services include AT&T Mobile Music, Cellular Video, and access to MobiTV and MobiRadio, Bluetooth, microSD memory card slot and multiple messaging options.
Carlton Hill, vice president of product management for AT&T’s wireless unit, says, “The a717 and a727 are packed with the advanced features our customers demand and are stunning additions to our growing portfolio of 3G devices.”
The slim and slick handset will also support AT&T’s forthcoming Video Share service, which will be launching this summer. AT&T Mobile Music allows owners to use Napster or Yahoo! Music to load music onto the devices, Music ID, XM Radio, music videos, The Buzz music news portal, and more.
“The a717 and a727 are our slimmest handsets optimized for AT&T’s 3G network. Both devices embody Samsung’s commitment to developing slim, stylish devices that boast a number of multimedia, messaging and music capabilities,” adds Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president, Samsung.

The SGH-a717 will hit the stores in June 4 and the cost will be $149.99 (Rs. 6,049). The SGH-a727 will be available soon at the retail price of $99.99(Rs. 4,030) (with two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate).
