The Epson SureColor SC-S30670 64-inch wide format printer has been launched in India with a rather unique tag – the ‘first ever low-cost, high-performance eco-solvent printer.’ Key features include a status notification system, a 2.5-inch LCD screen and a control panel. In addition, it also has Energy Star certification for low power consumption.
It will be the first printer from the company to use the proprietary Epson Micro Piezo Thin Film Piezo (TFP) print head. Furthermore, with 720 nozzles per color, it has been engineered to double the nozzle density. One of the key highlights of the device seems to be its ability to deliver a high quality output at a ‘much faster speed.’
“The Epson SureColor SC-S30670 is the best-in-line signage printer for businesses prioritizing total cost of ownership and performance as Epson provides a one-year warranty for all machine parts, while the new ink set enables greater flexibility on media choice thereby reducing printing cost,” explains Samba Moorthy, Director – Sales & Marketing, Epson India.
“The newly formulated Epson UltraChrome GS2 eco-solvent inks will have light-fastness for up to three years, including yellow color which is often the weakest ink in the ink set, therefore delivering long-lasting prints,” he continued.
The Epson printer is said to be capable of achieving smoother color graduation, grain reduction as well as a high level of color consistency, thanks to a new Look-up Table (LUT) technology. The Micro Piezo TFP print head can handle 8 ink channels simultaneously and gives the device a print resolution of 1,440 x 1,440 dots-per-inch.
The Epson SureColor SC-S30670 takes advantage of a one-year warranty, during which time all hardware repair costs will be covered. Plus, it comes with an initial ink set of 700ml per color, which, as the company points out, is way more than what its competitors offer. Several other features such as a newly engineered ink set, free software for basic editing (downloadable on the Epson website) and an accurate media loading system which automatically controls media tension, bolster its appeal.
It is suited for outdoor banner quality delivering 720 x 720dpi at speeds of 29.4 square meters per hour, while for indoor posters, 720 x 1440 dpi output is achievable at speeds of 9.9 square meters per hour.
The Epson SureColor SC-S30670 price and availability details have been divulged by the company. Although positioned as a low-cost machine, it is priced at Rs. 8,86,091, but the company says it will earn its tag with a low total cost of ownership.
