The technological space is improving with each passing day and manufacturers have been striving hard to come up with unique gizmos which come embedded with top-notch features and precocious technologies. STMicroelectronics has joined hands with ST-Ericsson to unleash the Mobility DisplayPort (MYDP) interface standard.

The offering boasts of complete compatibility with the DisplayPort digital-protocol standard and renders 1080p/60Hz audio and video streaming between smart mobile devices, as well as high-definition TVs and monitors using the standard connector. The MYDP standard allures users with simultaneous audio/video streaming and helps users charge their devices using this same connector.

“Introducing cutting-edge technologies, such as MYDP, is an important element of ST’s strategy to continue advancing as a leader in semiconductor solutions for the consumer market,” commented Luigi Mantellassi, Vice President, Home Entertainment and Displays Group, STMicroelectronics. “In close cooperation with ST-Ericsson, STMicroelectronics has co-developed an open and royalty-free technology that will let consumers bring the content from their smart mobile devices into their living rooms.”

STMicroelectronics has also put forth the proposal for the MYDP interface to VESA, thereby anticipating it to come across as the defacto standard for A/V output from various portable electronics solutions. Based on DisplayPort, the MYDP standard lowers space consumption and enables owners to seamlessly use one single connector for data exchange, audio/video output and easy connectivity to several A/V accessories.

These companies are also expected to offer a wide array of highly differentiated products to enhance the use of this new Mobility DisplayPort standard. The first engineering samples of this series will be up for grabs in Q3 2011.
