Envi Home Energy Monitor paired with Google PowerMeter

Envi For eco-conscious consumers out there, here’s a great way of contributing towards saving electricity. Current Cost’s Envi Home Energy monitor which wirelessly delivers energy usage information to the supplied display has been paired with Google’s PowerMeter service.

The device is a fitted with two sensors that encircle all the main power cables at around the home in order to procure the aforesaid information. It has a display that flashes the energy utilization in dollars as well as Watts. It stores information regarding the past energy usage as well so that users can compare and control their electricity consumption.

“Europe is far ahead of the US when it comes to deployment of this type of technology. We believe that when US households learn of the benefit that home energy monitors provide, that adoption will grow rapidly. Google PowerMeter will play a great part in fostering this growing awareness,” explained Leoni Pearl, President, PowerSave. “Being able to view your homes energy consumption from work or on your mobile device users will gain an unprecedented level of control over their energy usage.”

The Google PowerMeter service transfers the user’s energy consumption details online. This database can be accessed at all times anytime and from anywhere. It enables users to keep a check on their power usage and consequently reduce energy wastage. According to the company’s calculations, their customers have already saved approximately 4,00,000 tons of CO2 by monitoring their power usage.

The price of the Envi home energy monitor has not received a clear mention as yet.
