Sony launches PCM-M10 handheld pro-audio recorder

PCM-M10 recorderSony has unveiled its latest addition to the company’s line of handy professional audio recorders, reports Brand Linder. Dubbed as the PCM-M10, it joins the company’s PCM-D10 and PCM-D50 models to form a family of flexible and strong portable field recorders. Users can not only use it as a personal music player but can also compose music, record practice sessions and performances.

The new recorder has 4GB of internal flash memory and a microSD/Memory Stick Micro slot. Its 96 kHz/24-bit capable with electret condenser stereo microphones. The recorder has an integrated built-in speaker along with a low-cut filter, digital limiter and a 5-second pre-recording buffer. It includes Sound Forge Audio Studio Recorder Edition software.

A USB high-speed port is included with the recorder for simple uploading and downloading of native file formats. It adorns a durable metal construction and long battery life. While the PCM-D10 and PCM-D50 only record in WAV, the PCM-M10 claims to be the first Sony flash recorder that allows to record in MP3 format as well.

The Sony PCM-M10 is planned to be available in October. The price of the recorder is $399.
