Toshiba reveals new Satellite laptop range for UK

Toshiba adds four more models to its popular Satellite laptop family. The line-up now includes the A500, U500, L500 and L550 laptops. All these laptops are claimed to be loaded with the latest features that should match consumer demands.

Personal computing has now been made possible with this latest range of Satellite laptops. They are modeled to suit the growing needs of various types of users. This laptop series also claims to be energy efficient. The models are Energy Star 5.0 enabled and also feature an Eco Utility tool that allows users to run the laptop on a power saver mode which cuts down the power consumption. The Satellite A500 and U550 also boast of a dedicated Eco Utility button which encourages users to switch to eco mode and thus save power.

The multi-touch control pad is another feature available on the Satellite A500 and U500 models. It gives the users better control over their PC using just the track pad. This in turn enables fingers to pinch, swipe or rotate, zoom and stroll. With a stylish exterior, the laptops are offered in an advanced design that is also durable. The A500 in particular sports the distinct Toshiba Fusion finish based on In-Mold Rolling technology (IMR). The U500 adorns a Luxe Brown finish on both its interior and exterior whereas the slick L500 and L550 models have a cool, chic finish and are also based on the IMR technology.

The Toshiba Satellite A500 is claimed to be a multimedia powerhouse and is recommended for users looking for a laptop to match all their entertainment needs. The laptop also has great audio and video quality. It is affordable and some selected models also claim to have inbuilt TV-tuners.

The A500 incorporates an Intel Core2 Duo processor P8700 with 2.53 GHz or Core2 Duo processor T6500 with 2.6GHz. It has up to 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard disk. Sporting a 16” TFT WXGA TruBrite display, it also packs in an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics card. This gadget also inlcudes Herman Kardon stereo speakers, integrated Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n and a HD widescreen camera with face recognition. It also has Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. Selected models are known to have Bluetooth. A DVD Super-Multi drive, a 3x USB2.0 Sleep & Charge, 5 in 1 Bridge Media slot, 1x USB Sleep & Charge/E-SATA combo and a TV tuner are some other features. It is known to weigh approximately 2.94 kg.

The Toshiba Satellite U500 is said to exhibit portability, power and a very innovative design. The laptop is fashioned for users who travel a lot and who need their media with them. Even though this device weighs just over 2kg, it still is powerful. With many features similar to that of the A500, the U500 is said to have additional features of ultra-portability and great performance.

The U500 is fuelled by an Intel Core2 Duo processor P7350 / T4200 (2.00 GHz) /T6500 (2.16 GHz) and has up to 4GB of expandable RAM and up to 500GB of hard disk space. It features a 13.3” TFT WXGA TruBrite 1,280 x 800 display with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 Graphics card. This device is said to have integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n. Based on a Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system, it has a high definition Widescreen webcam with face recognition. It also has a DVD Super-Multi drive and 2x USB2.0 Sleep & Charge, 1x USB Sleep & Charge/E-SATA combo, 1x HDMI, 5 in 1 Bridge Media slot.

The Toshiba Satellite L500 and L550 include widescreens that offer users excellent computing quality. E-mailing, social networking, casual gaming as well as accessing, organizing and editing data are now a breeze with these laptops.

The L550 incorporates an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 with 2.16 GHz. It has up to a 4GB RAM, and 500GB hard disk. It has a 17.3” TFT WXGA TruBrite display and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570. It also comprises of an integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/n, a new A4 full size key board and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. This laptop has a 0.3MP webcam with Face Recognition. It also incorporates a 2x USB 2.0 Sleep & Charge, 1x USB Sleep & Charge/E-SATA combo, and 1x HDMI. It weighs around 3.17kg.

The Toshiba Satellite L500 is known to have an Intel Core2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.16GHz) / AMD Turion Dual Core RM-72 (2.10GHz) / Intel Pentium Processor T4200 (2.0GHz). It has a RAM that is expandable to up to 4GB and up to 320 GB of hard drive space. With a 15.6” TFT WXGA TruBrite display, some models are said to have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 graphics card. This device is additionally bundles with integrated Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/n, 802.11 b/g/n and 802.11 b/g. It has a new A4 full size keyboard and it also has a Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. It has a 0.3 webcam with Face Recognition and a 2x USB 2.0, 1x USB/E SATA combo, 1x HDMI and a 4-in-1 card reader. It weighs around 2.72 kg.

This range of laptops will be available in the UK from late July. The Toshiba Satellite A500 and U500 will cost approximately £599. The Toshiba Satellite L550 will be sold at an approximate price of £699 and the Toshiba Satellite L500 will be priced at £449.
