American technology group Apple and German automaker Volkswagen AG had arranged a meeting to discuss a joint venture, which may apparently be that of producing an iCar.
Apple, CEO Steve Jobs and Martin Winterkorn, chief executive for German automaker Volkswagen AG are planning to outline a car that would integrate Apple’s technology.
Hans-Gerd Bode, a spokesman for VW, confirmed about the meeting but denied to confirm whether the meeting was about the iCar launch. However, as of now we can call it a speculation. “It’s not about a specific car – it is too soon for that. There are ”scores of ideas,” but few concrete plans at this point,” the spokesman said.
German business magazine Capital said that the latest device would be a Volkswagen’s compact car mounted with Apple products to appeal to younger consumers.
Apart from Apple, VW has been working with Google for an in-car navigation system based on Google maps. The company has also shown interest in embedding ultra-mobile PCs inside the car.
Besides, Apple has also been working with major automakers such as BMW, Audi, Ford, Mazda, and Ferrari to integrate optional iPod connectors into vehicles.
