Apple WWDC sees MacBook Air and MacBook Pro upgrades

Apple has just made the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro more enticing to potential users with the inclusion of better graphics, quicker flash storage and the newest Intel Core CPUs. The company has refreshed the entire MacBook lineup with a range of improvements that is touted to make the experience faster and more productive.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch Air notebooks are now equipped with the latest Core i5 and Core i7 dual core processors. The included Intel HD Graphics 4000 should provide the steam for playing games and streaming videos. A new FaceTime camera offering 720p HD video recording capability should carry some weight on the specs sheet. Then there’s 4GB flash memory that can be extended up to 8GB for dealing with memory-consuming utilities.

“Today we’ve updated the entire MacBook line with faster processors, graphics, memory, flash storage and USB 3 connectivity. We’ve made the world’s best portable family even better and we think users are going to love the performance advances in both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro,” commented Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

The 13-inch Pro is integrated with the latest Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual core processor ticking away at speeds of 2.9GHz along with Turbo Boost of up to 3.6GHz. The 15-inch one has an Intel Core i7 quad core 2.7GHz processor with Turbo Boost speeds of up to 3.7GHz and integrated Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics. Both versions of the notebook allow configurations with SSDs up to 512GB or a 1TB hard drive.

Additionally, the aforementioned devices carry a Thunderbolt port as well as a couple of USB 3.0 slots for hooking up to a range of peripherals. The 13-inch laptops are claimed to provide approximately 7 hours of wireless usage, while the 11-inch MacBook Air delivers about 5 hours of battery life. Both these gadgets function on the OS X Lion software, which is upgradeable to OS X Mountain Lion.

The 13-inch and 11-inch MacBook Air price tags start at roughly Rs. 67,900 and Rs. 81,900, correspondingly. The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro price details begin at around Rs. 81,900 and Rs. 1,22,900, respectively.
