Dell launches Latitude E6400 XFR Rugged Laptop in Ballistic Design

Dell escalates the level of ruggedness with the launch of the latest laptop, called the Latitude E6400 XFR. Addressing the demands of sustainability in the harshest environments, the robust laptop promises to comply with 25 percent higher drop specification and provide superior protection from dust and moisture.

Featuring Dell-exclusive PR-481 Ballistic Armor Protection System, the Latitude E6400 XFR is said to be an ideal laptop for the military, first responders, oil & gas environments, manufacturing floors, field technicians and homeland security. It claims to enhance a high-strength substance used for cryogenics, aircraft components, military equipment and medical devices. The protection system offers:

  • Twice the impact strength of magnesium alloy.
  • Resistance up to four feet drop with system powered down and closed, and up around 36-inch drop test with the unit operating and LCD open.
  • High compression strength for outstanding impact protection.
  • Structural stability at extreme temperatures.
  • Scratch resistance providing corrosion protection.
  • With the PrimoSeal Technology, the latest rugged laptop from Dell boasts to offer improved security against dust and liquid with compression gaskets. The computing device meets over 13 military standards (MIL STD 810F), thanks to the incorporated QuadCool Thermal Management System.

    Apart from the robust features, the Latitude E6400 XFR also comes integrated with the Intel Core 2 Duo processors and vPro technology, a large 14.1-inch wide display with DirectVue Technology, an in-vehicle docking solution, 12-cell rugged battery slice, E-family docking and legacy I/O adapter.

    At 2.2-inch thick and 8.5 pounds, the Latitude E6400 XFR works on extended field use batteries equipped with ExpressCharge. It is supported by optional Dell ProSupport service.

    Showcased at Federal Office Systems Exposition (FOSE), the Dell Latitude XFR E6400 laptop is currently available in the US, Canada, France, Spain, UK, Germany and Italy for a starting price of $4,299 (approx. Rs. 222,345).
