LG terminates Laptop Model after a Battery Malfunction

LG logo Recently we had reported about a LG laptop explosion in the South Korean market. A battery malfunction issue has been reported for the second time by a graduation student in Korea. A laptop battery by LG Chem was noticed to be melting down and getting destroyed in the laptop. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

LG Chem is in the process of investigating the case. LG has thus officially stopped selling the laptop model that met with the meltdown. However, the model was sold only in South Korea and is no longer produced.

Jik Soo Kim, a spokesman for LG Electronics maintained that the batteries were developed to dissolve as a safety feature, instead of undergoing a potential explosion.

LG denied naming the LG laptop model name. Two occurrences in one year could create a possibility of a negative impression in its country itself. Nothing much can be commented on before a verdict of the investigation is revealed.
