Sony Vaio Z series notebooks introduced

Sony Vaio Logo Sony introduces its new sleek and powerful Vaio Z series notebooks. The light weight Z series equips a 13.1 inch widescreen and is enriched with XBRITE-DuraView LCD technology. The notebooks possess a precisely engineered key board with conveniently spaced keys.

“Today’s mobile professional demands not only portability from a notebook but that it meets their productivity needs as well,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics. “This new model is an amazing engineering feat packing the full functionality of a larger PC into an ultra-light form factor.”

The Z series notebooks come with a carbon-fiber casing which houses the entire unit. It is enriched with the G-Sensor Shock Protection technology that prevents data loss and damage. It features Intel Centrino 2 technology, an in-built 802.11n wireless LAN as well as an optional built-in wireless Sprint Mobile Broadband.

The Z series is loaded with features like an optional Blu-ray Disc optical drive, HDMI output, full 1080 HD resolution, biometric fingerprint sensor, Trusted Platform Module compliant chip, hard disk drive password protection software and compatibility with HDTV and HDMI. It is pre installed with Windows Vista Business OS and comes with a trial version of the My Memory Center service.

The Z series also packs in Memory Stick media/SD card slot, three USB ports, i.LINK IEEE-1394 port, headphone jack, PC Card (type-II) slot and a microphone jack. It also offers a 128 GB solid state drive (SSD) model, providing quick and easy access to various applications.

The Vaio Z notebook has a starting price of $1,800 (approx Rs. 77,760) and the Z series SSD laptop costs $2,300 (approx Rs. 99,360). You can purchase these notebooks from Sony’s online store, Sony Style stores and select retailers in August.
