AMD-based dvX500 Notebooks introduced by HP and Compaq

HP Pavilion dv9500z HP and Compaq have launched their enhanced consumer notebook PC lines, precisely the “dvx500 series”. The new members include the HP Pavilion dv9500z and dv6500z and the Compaq Presario v6500z.

All the notebooks have shifted from Intel Core 2 processors to AMD Turion 64×2 processors. The 15.4-inch dv6500z and 17-inch dv9500z comes with NVIDIA’s GeForce 7150M for integrated graphics instead of Intel’s GMA X3100. HP Pavilion notebooks also feature GeForce 8400M GS video with HDMI output, HD DVD combo drives, and mobile broadband with Verizon through a V740 ExpressCard.

The three new laptops also come with WiFi / Bluetooth, a built-in webcam with microphone and an eight-cell Li-ion battery.

The dv9500z carries a storage capacity of up to 500GB that spreads across two drives. The dv6500z features 1GB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, and Vista Home Premium.

The Compaq Presario v6500z provides single-core 2GHz Sempron, 512MB of RAM, DVD/CD-RW combo drive and Vista Home Basic.

HP Pavilion dv9500z and dv6500z retails for $749.99 (approx. Rs. 30,000) and $999.99 (approx. Rs. 40,000), respectively. The price of the Compaq Presario v6500z is $499 (approx. Rs. 20,000). All three dvx500 series of notebook PCs are expected to roll out by 13th September.
